Day 1: Arrive Warsaw
The adventure begins upon your arrival in Warsaw airport where your host will meet you and accompany you on the transfer to your accommodations. The rest of the day in Warsaw is yours. You're free to see what you want, when you want, limited only by your interests. Tour, relax, or hit the cafes, restaurants, and pubs, Warsaw is yours and it's quite a city!
Everything you'll see started at the end of the thirteenth century when the city was founded in the area where the Royal Castle now stands in Old Town. Since then the history of Warsaw is one of destruction and rebirth. Ravaged by wars, disturbances and plagues, besieged, conquered and occupied, Warsaw rises from the ashes like a phoenix, every time stronger, larger, and more glorious than before. This time around, Warsaw joins Europe as a major capital equal to any other, but with a few surprises. Set among capitalist skyscrapers and commercial advertisements are communist era edifices and monuments to the proletariat.
Hidden on streets of drab buildings you'll find the rare bullet scared facade, reminder of a lost struggle while a few steps further are untouched palaces of bygone glory and spacious green parks with towering trees and calming fountains. Trams filled with commuters move along posh shopping districts that would be at home in any major city in the world, but pierogies and beer are almost always available on any given block. This is Warsaw, your home for the next 3 nights.
